(8/20 4:02pm) Rumors have been swirling on cruise message boards all week, Carnival Cruise Lines is currently testing an all-inclusive drink package on the Carnival Victory.

This rumor has recently come out from multiple passengers on board the Carnival Victory, which is currently sailing a 7 night southern Caribbean cruise. It is said that the “My Awesome Bar Program”  is being widely advertised throughout the ship and that Carnival is looking for feedback from the guests for possible implementation throughout the fleet.

So what does this package include and cost? Well, here is the official press release from Carnival…

Carnival Cruise Lines began testing a new all-inclusive beverage program aboard the Carnival Victory starting with the ship’s Aug. 5 departure.

Under the “My Awesome Bar Program,” guests can enjoy a wide variety of wine, beer, and spirits, along with sodas and non-alcoholic frozen cocktails, throughout the voyage at one convenient, flat rate. All wines by the glass, beer and individual cocktails priced $10 and lower are available within the program. Full bottles of wine and champagne, as well as wines by the glass, beers and individual cocktails priced above $10, are available at a 25 percent discount.

Guests can sign up for the “My Awesome Bar Program” at Carnival Victory’s atrium and casino bars, as well as a bar within the main pool area. Each guest aged 21 years and over in the same stateroom must purchase the beverage package. Guests must be 21 years or older to consume alcohol on Carnival ships.
The cost for program is $42.95 per person per day, plus a 15 percent gratuity.

If this test program is successful and is implemented throughout the fleet, Carnival would be the first of the mainstream cruise lines to have a program like this.

So what do you think of this program? Is this something worth $42.95 a day? Let me know in the comment section below.

This is interesting. I’m glad they are testing such a service. However, at $42.95/day, it’s pretty pricey. So I’m assuming they charge for the whole week, so that’s $300.65. So the question is, will I consume 33+ drinks over the course of the week? If so, then it’s a steal, otherwise, I’m better off buying it a a per drink basis.

I can see over time that people that want to cheat the system buying one pass, and then getting drinks for others.

I agree. Honestly, I think it will fail, especially since they are testing it on such a port intensive itinerary. I feel that more drinking is done during a sea day than a port day. I feel like it was made to fail since the Victory only has 1 sea day.
